Inga Sámi Siida

Experience authentic Sámi culture and reindeer herding in Northern Norway at Inga Sámi Siida on Iinnasuolu (Hinnøya), Norway’s largest island.

Gather around the fire in a traditional lavvu and hear stories about Sámi life, traditions, beliefs, myths and magic, and the close relationship between the Sámi people and their reindeer. Learn about reindeer herding, experience the ancient tradition of joik, discover Sámi handicrafts, duodji, and explore photographs documenting life through the eight Sámi seasons.

Outside, meet and feed the reindeer up close and try traditional lasso throwing. You’ll also discover stories of the Northern Lights, and if conditions are right, you may even experience the Northern Lights yourself.

Through personal stories, encounters and traditions, this authentic Sámi experience offers a unique insight into Sámi culture and everyday life – and perhaps even a few Sámi words along the way.
